Guitar From Scratch

Group guitar

A group class for adults and mature teens who are just learning to play the guitar or have no guitar playing experience. This class will teach you basic guitar-playing skills including tuning, right-hand and left-hand techniques, holding the pick, strumming styles, and a lot of chords.  Please note: we will be using picks for the class and we will not be doing any finger picking.

We’ll start slowly and learn chords and techniques within the context of several tunes like: I’ll Fly Away, This Land is Your Land, Amazing Grace and others. In addition, you will learn exercises that will help to strengthen your hands and fingers.

You should come away from this class with a better understanding of playing the guitar and the desire to keep playing your guitar!

Please contact us if you need a guitar as a limited number of guitars are available for use during the six-week class period for an additional fee.

If you already play a little bit of guitar and would like to play in a mixed-instrument ensemble you may want to try the Cretaceous Band,  Country Music EnsembleJazz Combo or Olde Music Ensemble
