Irish Penny Whistle Group Class

Come celebrate Irish-American Heritage month with this group class for a classic Irish band instrument–the penny whistle! 

Taught by Tim Ryan, this course will be geared towards the beginning Irish Whistle player.  It will be flexible, allowing for customized instruction based on the student’s individual needs and/or learning style, and able to accommodate students. who already have experience playing.

The following topics will be covered, using tunes appropriate for beginners: 

  • Instrument Basics
  • Posture
  • Grip
  • Breathing
  • Foundational Technique
  • Understanding Irish Traditional Style
  • Rhythm & Ornamentation (Light Introduction)
  • Music Theory (Minimal)
  • Practice Strategies
  • Cultural Context

You’ll need a D penny whistle (also known as a tin whistle).  If you don’t have one, you may purchase of ours for $10.00, which will be added to your class fee.
