Join the celebration in a day-long immersion in African culture, featuring music, dance, history, cuisine, and a fashion show!
Here’s a summary of activities for the day!
10:30 – 11:30 AM Family friendly event at C4A with drumming, a mini-concert, and an instrument petting zoo! Free admission
1:00-2:30 PM Culture event at Lincoln Square Mall, opening ceremonies, community recognition, and an African fashion show! Free admission.
3:00-4:00 PM Drumming and Dance at The Urbana Free Library Free admission. Bokulaka, expert traditional African drummer and dancer, will play for this dance party!
4:00-7:00 PM Free street fair on Gregory Street, between Krannert Center for the Performing Arts and Spurlock Museum!
Music performances by local favorite Laeticia Kyungu, and featuring international artist Michel Bakenda.
African cuisine vendors will be ready to serve traditional food!
