Aimi started playing the piano at age 3. She graduated from Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo, Japan with a major in piano performance. After moving to the US she earned a master’s degree in Music Therapy and a Ph.D. in Child Development from Texas Woman’s University.
While living in Texas she taught classes in child and human development, early childhood education, and family studies for over 15 years at two universities.
Aimi has been teaching the piano since she was a senior in high school in Japan and continued teaching after she moved to the U.S. She has taught a wide age range of students, ranging from toddlers to the elderly.
She enjoys bringing her knowledge of music therapy to her studio to provide adaptive piano lessons and music therapy for individuals with various special needs.
Aimi is also an experienced accompanist and has accompanied a variety of instruments and varied skill levels of students including middle and high school students, college students, and university music faculty members.
She served as the president of a local music teachers association that was an affiliate of the state association.
A proud mother of three adult children, Aimi recently moved to the CU area and is very much looking forward to being part of this wonderful community!
