Our 2016 Faculty Showcase concert will be on February 27, 2016 at 6:00 PM at The Iron Post, 120 South Race Street, Urbana. (NOT 7:00 pm, as stated in some sources!)
C4A’s professional teaching artists will join forces to share their widely varied musical skills at this free public concert.
Musical selections will include:
- J. S. Bach for solo piano
- Fritz Kreisler showpiece for violin & piano
- Old-time banjo & fiddle duets
- Bluegrass tunes for a small band
- Andean folk melodies and popular tunes influenced by traditions from eastern Europe, Russia, and Cuba, played by our “mixed house band”.
This year’s faculty performers:
- Maria Del Toro, violin
- Tom Faux, guitar, clawhammer banjo
- Matthew Gladden, piano
- Josh Houchin, bass
- Robin Kearton, viola, violin, fiddle
- Jeremy Koch, Scruggs style banjo
- Wayne Logue, fiddle

We are proud of this year’s poster, created by Urbana native Zelda Galewsky. Zelda is attending art school and we think she’s off to a brilliant start! We have extra copies of the poster, which we’ll give to the first 10 people who request them at the concert.
We will have a special guest at this concert: Joan Dixon, representing the Community Foundation of East Central Illinois, will present us with a check for a recent grant awarded to purchase music stands for our ensembles, and a new copy machine so our teachers can print their music and teaching materials. Thanks CFECI!!
Thanks also to Paul and the crew at the Iron Post for hosting this free community event!
