Juan Comacho

Pianist and music educator, Juan Comacho, has performed extensively as a soloist and collaborative artist in major cities across Colombia and the United States. Recent U.S. appearances include performances at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, the Governor’s Mansion in Springfield, the UIS Visual Arts Gallery, Munson Chapel at Azusa Pacific University, and UIS Performing Arts Center. 

Since 2021, he has served as Piano Instructor at the University of Illinois Springfield, where he teaches individual and group piano and performs regularly in faculty and student recitals. His research developed an introductory harmony curriculum that helps keyboard students internalize harmonic practices and voice-leading patterns through practical application at the piano.

Juan completed his Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature at the University of Illinois under Prof. Timothy Ehlen. He holds an MM from Missouri State University with Prof. Hye-Jung Hong and a BM from the National University of Colombia with Prof. Juan Pablo Luna.
