Fadi has been playing Oud for over 20 years, and started his studies in Damascus. Most recently he studied under the Iraqi Oud Master, Ahmed Mukhtar, in the Taqasim Music School, based in London, where he also trained as a teacher.
He has participated widely in many occasions to celebrate the Oud and its cultural influence. Highlights include writing a play with the Oud as a central character and initiating various musical projects incorporating the Oud. Fadi is passionate about writing lyrics and composing music, and has written songs to be performed with Oud. He is currently developing a performing style where he plays the Oud and recites poetry simultaneously.
Fadi completed his PhD degree in virology at the University of Warwick in the UK in 2016 and recently joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a postdoc researcher.
