Cuban Percussion Workshop

This event is open to percussionists in all styles and levels of expertise.

11:00 am to 1:00 pm workshop (with a break; refreshments provided)

1:00 pm Lunch and “hang with the artists”

$25 Admission includes two-hour hands-on workshop (bring your favorite percussion instrument; we can provide some) and a lunch (Menu includes BBQ from the Black Dog and vegan beans & rice)

About the Presenters:

Percussionist, Alejandro Aguiar is traveling from Cuba this February to perform with the Havana Lyceum Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

Bassist Olivia Rodríguez Caballero is a rising star of Cuban classical and popular music, and a Colibrí and Egrem recording artist.

The couple performs regularly with Cuban popular artists Frank Delgado, Liuba María Hevia, Frasis Group, Ivette Cepeda, Luis Barbería, Jade Duo, Leoni Torres and PerCuba Ensemble. Their recorded work includes “Mozart in Havana” for Sony Classical with pianist Simone Dinnerstein and “Mozart and Mambo” with Berlin Philharmonic horn player, Sarah Willis.
