Homeschool Philharmonic

No, you don’t have to be home-schooled to join this group, but it is offered during school hours.

This group is for kids who know how to play an instrument and want to be able to play with others. The repertoire will be drawn from western art music (“classical”) as well as from traditional dance and folk music genres from around the world.

  • Any instrument is welcome, but please note that if multiple pianists register they will have to share the keyboard and take turns playing.
  • Bowed strings need to be able to at least play through “Twinkle Twinkle” at a reasonable pace without stopping.  Our arrangements will accommodate intermediate and advanced players too.
  • Plucked strings should know basic chords and be able to change on the beat, or be able to play melody lines.
  • Wind & brass players should have enough experience to be able to find all of their notes without help.
  • Everyone must pre-register by January 10 so we can make sure we have parts ready for the first rehearsal.

We’ll plan a recital time near the end of the semester.
