Camp electives June 4-8, 2018

These electives go along with Circus Camp, Music Pedagogy, and Junior Camp. Campers can choose the elective they like, even if it is not related to their core camp.

Campers in Standard Camp should pick a 1st period elective; Extended Day campers should pick electives for both periods.

Playing ukuleles!

1st period:

Quiet Time: This elective is required for Junior Campers (age 4-7) but older campers are also welcome to choose this option. We’ll color or draw, read, play quiet games, listen to music, rest, or even take a nap!

Ukulele: Whether you already play music or are a total beginner, ukulele is a fun and accessible instrument! One of the C4A guitar teachers will help you learn chords or melodies and play your favorite songs! Take this elective multiple times to deepen your skill. If you have your own ukulele please bring it.  Enrollment for this elective is limited to 6 due to our supply of ukuleles, but if people bring their own instruments we can accept more.  Enrollment in this elective will be on a first come, first served basis.

Costumes, Props & Sets: This week we’ll focus on circus costuming and makeup.  Campers who are interested in making their own circus props to use at home will enjoy this elective.

2nd period:

Balloon dogs!

Balloon Twisting: Be the life of the party–learn how to make animals and other creations from balloons!

Free-play Construction: Combine your creativity and our materials to build a fort, a village, or another project of your dreams! Campers who wish to may continue to work on props and costumes during this period.

Game Room: Cards, board games, dominoes, checkers, chess – it’s all good and our staff will help you learn strategies and skills.

Pedagogy Practicum: For pedagogy camp students to geek out and watch films about teaching, analyze etudes, swap stories, and really get into a teaching mindset.  At times we’ll invite campers in the other electives to have a music lesson with us!
