C4A holiday recording service

Wouldn’t your family members love a recording of you playing your favorite pieces?

Well, they are in luck!  We’re offering a special recording program at C4A and you can easily deliver a professionally-prepared recording to all of the folks on your gift list.

We’re working out details and will be back soon with more information.  Please contact us if you’d like us to be sure to let you know when we have it all worked out.

C4A Piano Program

C4A has gotten a pretty good reputation for teaching strings, but it’s still a closely guarded secret that we have recently acquired an outstanding piano faculty as well.

Allow me to introduce them:

Chris Reyman, in addition to his accordion-playing alter ego, is a fabulous jazz pianist.

Tatiana Shustova trained in Russia.  She is well-versed in classical piano traditions, and is an outstanding accompanist as well.

Justin DeAngelo comes to us by way of Pennsylvania, bringing his well-rounded blend of jazz, rock, improv, and classical training.

They are all excellent musicians who would love to help you learn to play piano or perform at your event!   Please contact us if you’d like to set up a time to meet with one of them.

We’ve moved!

We’re all moved into our new home at 103 North Race.

There are still boxes to be unpacked, but thanks to a fabulous team of volunteers we got everything moved in before quitting time on Saturday!

Feel free to stop in and see our new digs!  Click here for directions to the new place.

C4A Needs 3 Computers

The Community Center for the Arts is seeking the donation of three PCs.  This will allow our program coordinator, interns, and volunteers to work more efficiently in the C4A office. We currently have one computer that is used primarily for bookkeeping.

The PCs need to be current from a hardware standpoint; capable of running the Windows 7 operating system and Microsoft Office software.

You may contact Pat Ryan if you think you can help us out.  C4A is a registered charitable organization and can provide a receipt for the fair value of the equipment.

Garage Sale Report

C4A faculty members Tom Faux and Doug Schroer play for shoppers at our Pre-Sale.

We had a great time at our “ginormous” garage sale this past weekend and raised some funds to help with scholarships and operations!

Lots of folks came to dig through the piles of goods, and for the 2nd year running we had C4A faculty performing for this event. We have made a fine new  tradition of having live music at our garage sales.

Now I ask you, who would ever again want to attend a garage sale that did not feature live music?

Special thanks to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Federal O’Byrne Moving and Storage for their assistance with this project!

C4A’s New Home!

I am very pleased to announce that in the coming months we will be moving into a large, lovely space in the center of downtown Urbana, on the corner of Main and Race, with studios on the second floor over Corson’s Guitar Store.  The exact timing of this move will be announced later, pending conversation with the IMC board of directors about details for our transition.

The close proximity of music store and music school brings obvious benefits to both parties, but what we’re *most* excited about is the potential to create a new “music center” that will help ramp up activity in downtown Urbana.  Given this prime location, it’s possible to imagine downtown Urbana becoming known in the region for its vibrant music scene!  Obviously this fits our core mission of building local community through music very well.

More postings as things develop!
